Astrid Rodríguez 

An Engineer professionally, but an artist at heart. She was born and raised in Colombia, but spent part of her childhood in Switzerland, by the Zürich Lake. After finishing her studies in Civil Engineering in Popayán, she moved back to Europe to pursue a Master's degree in Rock Mechanics and Construction and later on in Regional and Urban Planning in Germany. 

 

It was then when she was working in the tunnels and walking step by step, that she started longing for the light, and the sun, and the people. This feeling was the start of her path in the arts. She admires the beauty in the human being as well as in nature. She loves sunrise- and sunset hunting as well as the light, the shadows and reflections. Colors and brushes are her passion. She has now settled in Vancouver, BC, where she hopes to continue her path in the arts.

Ingeniera de formación y artista de corazón. Nació en Cali, Colombia. Parte de su niñez la vivió en Suiza, en un pueblito a la orilla del Lago de Zürich.   Después de terminar sus estudios de ingeniería, regresó a Europa para realizar su Posgrado en Mecánica de Rocas y Construcción y posteriormente en Planificación Regional y Urbana en Alemania.  

 

Inició su camino artístico cuando el trabajo entre las rocas de los túneles de algunos proyectos hidroeléctricos  en Antioquia y el Valle en Colombia le mostraron su necesidad de estar más en contacto con las personas, de conocerlas y escucharlas.  Admiradora de la belleza del ser humano, tanto como la de la naturaleza. Cazadora de amaneceres y atardeceres, de la luz, las sombras  y sus reflejos. Fascinada con los colores y los pinceles.  Está radicada ahora en Vancouver, Columbia Británica, Canadá.
